“Fall in love again”

This week as I was thinking about our children, I felt that God was telling me to give the children a chance to “re-dedicate” their lives to Christ.
Most of our Stanwich Kids have asked Jesus into their lives and they love God. I told the kids about Psalm 23 where David says “anoint my head with oil”.
We have horses and during the summer months it is those little flies that can drive a horse totally crazy. That is why we spray them with stuff like oil so those little bugs don’t hurt the horses. The same is true to our lives. It is usually the little thing that take us away from the presence of God and it is the little things that make us lose our first love. That is why even David asks in this Psalm: “anoint me so the little difficulties and annoyances of life wouldn’t take me away from God’s presence and the first love.”
Every child this morning (1st-6th grade) wanted to rededicate their lives to that first love. They want to feel God’s presence in their lives. I truly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit during our Large Group time as the children came forward and lit a candle as a sign that they want the light of Christ to shine. When we fall in love, we cannot hide the light.
